I. INTERRELATIONSHIPS

Addiction Recovery Institute of America, LLC open door policy allows for the interrelationships of all employees. The RN/LPN is an integral position requiring that the employee maintain open lines of communication with ARIA (Addiction Recovery Institute of America) staff to facilitate the flow of information among ARIA clients and employees. In addition, he/she must function within the organization's policies and procedures and in accordance with all State and Federal Regulations.

II. POSITION PURPOSE

Provide care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Demonstrate the ability to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the unit. Determine priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.

IV. SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

A. RN/LPN assessment and admission paperwork thoroughly completed

B. Nurse to Nurse hand off communication on unit, interdepartmental, and community

C. Administer medications and render treatment to clients as needed.

D. Effectively document all information accordingly in client’s medical records as needed.

E. Establish and maintain cooperative working relations.

F. Maintain confidentiality of information and records, staff interrelationships, and communicate sensitive information.

G. Comply with nursing policies, protocols and program regulations and ensure appropriate nursing care is being implemented.

H. Foster a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care and education is promoted and achieved.

I. Assist in emergency situations as directed and as needed.

J. Treat clients with dignity and respect.

K. Perform other duties as assigned.


XII. POSITION CATEGORY UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS

Routine tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of fluids present a potential risk for exposure.

III. POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

A. EDUCATION

  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN).


B. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  1. Active registered nurse licensure in the state of Florida
  2. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and skilled techniques of nursing; symptomology and disease processes; general nutrition; medical equipment operation; use and effects of medications and immunizations; legal environment of nursing; health education techniques; medical recordkeeping and privacy practices; clinic organizations and operations; supervisory practices.
  3. Knowledge of State and Federal Statutes including Client Confidentiality Laws and Accountability Act (HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability)).
  4. Ability to evaluate and assess the need for nursing and/or medical services; perform skilled nursing tasks; anticipate patient’s needs.


C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  1. Maintain active license.


V. GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

This position requires reasoning, mathematics, and language skills at the graduate level or more college training.


VI. AGE SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS SERVED RESPONSIBILITY

The clients of Addiction Recovery Institute of America, LLC are adults over the age of 18 with substance abuse and other obsessive compulsive and psychiatric disorders.


VII. WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

Offices with access to computer, printer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, telephone, supervisor, and management for consultation purposes; ergonomically correct seating.


VIII. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

This position requires work in a temperature-controlled environment. Approximately 100% of time is spent indoors in temperatures of approximately 72-78 degrees. Outside activities may expose employees to temperatures over 96 degrees with high humidity. There is a potential exposure to violent situations, airborne and blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.


IX. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position involves standing, walking, bending, crouching, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, reading, reaching, stair climbing, air flight and driving. The percentage of time utilizing each physical demand varies according to the individual’s role in the continuum of care. Moderate lifting/lowering of 20 to 50 pounds may also be required during employment.


X. MENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires extensive work with other individuals. Additionally, the position may create a high level of mental stress although this is not the intent. You are expected to consistently take care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually to perform this function.

Computer, fax machine, telephone system, calculator, copy machine, printer, scanner, company vehicles.
