Job Summary:

As a Produce Manager at The Golden Hog, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Produce Department to ensure a fresh, organized, and welcoming shopping experience for customers and staff. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of produce quality standards, merchandising, rotation (FIFO), and inventory control. The Produce Manager ensures consistent execution across ordering, receiving, product presentation, shrink control, and team performance, aligned with The Golden Hog standards.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Produce Department.

· Ensure consistent execution in ordering, receiving, stocking, and merchandising standards.

· Maintain freshness, product quality, and proper rotation (FIFO) at all times.

· Maintain accurate inventory levels, pars, and support cycle counts as needed.

· Control shrink through quality checks, proper handling, and correct storage practices.

· Lead, train, and supervise the Produce team by assigning tasks and ensuring productivity.

· Support guests on the floor with product knowledge, substitutions, and issue resolution.

· Collaborate with store leadership and other departments to maintain daily alignment.

· Ensure safety, sanitation, and compliance standards are consistently followed.

· Maintain department readiness and a clean, organized, and welcoming environment aligned with The Golden Hog standards.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· 3+ years of experience in Produce (grocery/food retail) required.

· Strong hands-on experience with ordering, receiving, rotation (FIFO), and merchandising.

· Leadership experience guiding a small team and driving follow-through on daily priorities.

· High attention to detail with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

· Comfortable working in refrigerated areas and handling perishable product.

· Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, as business requires.

· Capable of lifting/moving product up to 50 lbs and performing physical tasks for extended periods.

· Basic comfort using operational tools (ordering systems, email/communication, and checklists).

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not mandatory.


Schedule:

Your standard work schedule will be five days per week, with two days off scheduled based on operational needs. Flexibility is required, as you may occasionally be asked to work on holidays or additional days to support special events.
