Are you a certified teacher with a passion for literacy and a heart for helping students thrive? Miami Children’s Museum is seeking a dedicated After School Certified Instructor to lead small-group reading interventions and support our afterschool programming with creativity, compassion, and instructional expertise.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who need reading support, mentor fellow educators, and be part of a mission-driven team that puts children first.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide differentiated reading instruction to small groups (max of 5) or one-on-one
• Develop engaging lesson plans based on students' assessed reading levels
• Use tools like I-STEEP MAZE and ORF to guide targeted interventions
• Support and train afterschool staff in implementing literacy curriculum with fidelity
• Lead collaborative staff literacy trainings with other certified instructors
• Maintain accurate attendance and instructional documentation
• Create positive behavior support systems to foster learning and engagement
• Collaborate with schoolteachers, parents, and your Site Coordinator to support student success
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
• Attend required trainings and complete annual in-service coursework (minimum 10 hours)
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field
• State of Florida Teaching Certificate (Reading endorsement preferred)
• At least 1 year of experience leading groups of children in educational settings
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• CPR/First Aid certified
• A collaborative spirit and a passion for helping children grow
