Director of Nursing

Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Compensation: $90,000 – $105,000 annually
Status: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Director of Nursing is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for overseeing home health services provided to patients in their residences. The DON ensures the highest quality of care in accordance with physician orders and plans of care, while supervising skilled nursing and other therapeutic services. This role is critical in maintaining clinical standards, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the state of Florida.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in healthcare or home health.

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of community health principles and practices.

  • Ability to supervise, develop, and evaluate clinical staff.

  • Strong organizational and independent decision-making skills.

  • Ability to handle high levels of stress while maintaining professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standards to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

  • Collaborate with the Administrator to establish objectives and staffing patterns that support efficient use of personnel.

  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and manage clinical staff.

  • Oversee staff orientation, in-service education, and ongoing professional development.

  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, state, and accreditation requirements.

  • Support interdisciplinary care planning and maintain physician-approved plans of care.

  • Maintain open and professional communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families.

  • Provide consultation, support, and leadership for clinical staff.

  • Ensure proper documentation, case conferences, staff meetings, and community education activities.

  • Oversee quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies.

  • Provide 24/7 on-call coverage or delegate coverage when appropriate.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Address and resolve patient care concerns promptly.

Working Environment

  • Based in a home health office setting.

  • Requires occasional physical activity, moderate lifting, and extended periods of standing.
