The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the AmeriCorps Program Manager with the implementation of the Great Futures AmeriCorps and Youth Volunteer Corps ( YVC) programs. The core of this role is to provide support at a professional level to the AmeriCorps Program Manager and Programs teams by managing and performing daily critical tasks.
The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator provides support in several programmatic areas including, but not limited to: recruiting, training, managing and retaining national service volunteers (AmeriCorps members) and Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) participants, per the agreements. as In addition, meeting College and Career program objectives with regards to supporting members in college and career readiness, as well as, providing academic support. The role will also work closely with AmeriCorps Site Supervisors and designated Club staff to coordinate and support efforts toward the fulfillment of programmatic goals.
Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):
- Assist the Program Manager in developing, coordinating, and delivering volunteer and service-learning projects in accordance with approved activities and Performance Measures
- Lead AmeriCorps Member recruitment efforts each term
- Assist AmeriCorps Applicants with navigating and completing the application/enrollment process each term
- Planning and coordination of AmeriCorps Orientation, bi-weekly meetings, training, and special events
- Ordering, and distributing AmeriCorps and YVC program gear and/or supplies
- Timely completion of AmeriCorps Timesheet corrections and submissions in ADP {bi-weekly
- Timely collection, and submission of AmeriCorps (PAR’s) and approved AmeriCorps Timesheets by the 10th of each month
- Monthly tracking/calculation and distribution of individual service hours to AmeriCorps Members
- Monitor and report AmeriCorps Site challenges, needs, or opportunities for improvement monthly
- Attend monthly and quarterly AmeriCorps (Volunteer Florida) meetings and training
- Lead Ontrack member enrollment training and track individual progress by club
- Aid with AmeriCorps and Youth Volunteer Corps recruitment and onboarding efforts
- Provide ongoing administrative support to the AmeriCorps Program Manager
- Maintain AmeriCorps and Youth Volunteer files according to compliance requirements
- Track Youth Volunteer Corps service hours on a weekly basis until the completion of service
- Timely collection of required documents and requests for full YVC Stipends at all club sites
- Track, monitor and record necessary performance data on a bi-weekly basis
- Collect and organize necessary documents to request Grade Sharing from PBCSD quarterly
- Develop and maintain strong rapport with AmeriCorps Members to encourage program completion/retention
- Assist with the development, implementation, and delivery of youth geared training on careers and their educational requirements, resume writing, networking, interviewing, and job search skills;
- Assist in setting up workshops on financial aid options, post-secondary school tours, obtaining recommendations, help with essay writing, SAT/ACT testing and score submissions, college application assistance, enrollment assistance, assistance with housing applications, food programs, and other steps required to complete the process of applying to and enrolling in college.
- Additional tasks and/or responsibilities may be assigned as necessary
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- BA/BS Degree from an accredited, four-year university or college in a field related to Education, or a combination of education and relevant experience
- 1 – 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth
- Strong writing, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to supervise and motivate students in a fluid environment
- Capability of enforcing Boys & Girls Clubs rules and policies in a fair and equitable manner
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook)
- Keen organizational skills
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written
- Outstanding interpersonal/soft skills
- High degree of independence, flexibility, initiative, and commitment
- Capable of maintaining strict confidentiality
- Skilled at working under pressure, while meeting deadlines simultaneously
- Competence working effectively with a variety of people in a teaming environment
- Ability to receive, process, learn and grow from redirection or constructive feedback appropriately
Relationships
- Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with club staff, and supervisor to receive/provide information and discuss issues.
- External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, schools external staff, volunteers and others to recruit and/or assist in resolving challenges.
