Position Overview

The Director of Estimating will oversee all estimating operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and competitive bids for roofing projects of all sizes. This individual will lead a team of estimators, collaborate with project management and sales teams, and refine systems and processes to improve efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the estimating department, including hiring, training and mentoring estimators

Develop and implement standardized estimating procedures, templates, and best practices

Review bid packages, drawings, and specifications to determine scope and requirements

Prepare and review detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors

Oversee bid schedules, ensuring timely submission and follow up

Collaborate with operations, project management, and procurement to ensure accurate project budgeting

Analyze market trends, pricing, and competitive data to maintain a strong win rate

Present estimates and recommendations to executive leadership

Continuously evaluate and improve estimating software, tools, and workflows

Qualifications

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in roofing estimating

Proven experience leading an estimating team

Deep understanding of roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal, shingles, etc)

Strong blueprint reading and takeoff skills

Proficiency with estimating software

Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
