Job Summary:

The TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track Physician Medical Director performs physical exams and partners with patients to create appropriate, evidence-based, medical treatment plans. Additionally, the Medical Director collaborates with the providers and Clinical Management team on patient cases and offers ongoing mentorship and supervision to Advanced Practice Providers (APRN/PA). The Medical Director assists with the direction and delivery of medical care and is responsible for maintaining relationships and coordinating activities of all providers, clinical staff, and operations. Additionally, the Medical Director assists with the oversight of the development of clinically relevant education, training, and process improvement.

Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Select, order, perform, interpret tests, analyses results, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient conditions and augment physical findings.
  • Analyze reports and findings of tests to accurately diagnose patients.
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury.
  • Perform procedures including, but not limited to, laceration repair, incision and drainage, foreign body removal, basic X-ray interpretation, EKG interpretation and provide referrals to medical specialists/advanced imaging when clinically indicated.
  • Explain procedures, discuss test results, prescribe evidence-based treatments, and provide patient education.
  • Take accurate and detailed medical notes within the electronic medical records at the time of service/date of service.
  • Serve as an advocate to all staff for positive company changes and project integration.
  • Assist with the supervision and direction of evidence-based medical treatment activities and recommend changes to better utilize facilities, services, and staff.
  • Assist in the creation of protocols using current medical consensus and evidence-based medicine.
  • Assist the CMO in the supervision of providers in compliance with state regulations.
  • Supervise and perform chart reviews of APP providers in compliance with state regulations and company policy.
  • Engage providers in accurate documentation and appropriate coding/billing to maximize appropriate reimbursement.
  • Monitor level of patient care using statistical models and chart review. Provide unsolicited medical judgment on quality of care and provide standardized chart review feedback based on company workflow and policy.
  • Make recommendations for the improvement of medical policy, clinical criteria, and administrative policies.
  • Assist with the compliance of clinical staffs’ licensing, certification, and accrediting bodies.
  • Develop relationships with sources for physician candidates, mid-level practitioners and other clinical personnel.
  • Assist in the improvement of the workflow through EPIC standardization of templates and treatments.
  • Promote physician and staff relationships through participation in staff and provider meetings.
  • Assist the Clinical Outcomes Department with oversight and compliance of CLIA, radiology, state and Federal requirements, UCA compliance standards.
  • Work with corporate staff and management to help accelerate business through marketing, advertising, meeting with local physicians and employers.
  • Work with corporate staff and management to develop additional lines of service/revenue streams.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position has supervisory responsibility assisting with the supervision of medical providers in assigned clinic regions.
  • Advocate for enhanced community relations through involvement in local and regional activities.
  • During clinical shifts, serve as the clinical operations point-of-contact for all staff to help advise on clinical queries and provider staffing issues, making real-time emergent provider staffing adjustments per policy in response to clinic volumes and provider skill levels.
  • Serve as consultant on clinical content for training of clinical staff.
  • Work with Clinical Coordinators and Supervisors to handle provider, patient, and staff complaints and assist in resolution and make recommendations for changes.
  • Assist the CMO and Clinical Management Team with coordinating quarterly provider meetings that include business and CME materials, review changes in policy, and continuing education.
  • Mentor and assist in the evaluation of providers.
  • Partner with the CMO and HR to arrange and oversee provider remediation, re-training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with relevant clinical project implementation and management.
  • Supervise and perform chart reviews of APP providers in compliance with state regulations and company policy.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate new and current provider staff.
  • Reports to the CMO and CEO.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from accredited university, required
  • Board certification in family practice, emergency medicine, or another ABMS recognized specialty, required
  • Active state and federal licensure requirements, required
  • BLS certification, required
  • NRCME/DOT certification, required
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in business applications and clinical management systems (EMRs), required
  • Prior experience in leadership/management-level, preferred
  • Clinical experience with basic occupational medicine/worker’s compensation, preferred
  • Clinical experience in an emergency medicine, urgent care, or ambulatory care setting, preferred
  • Experience and working knowledge in Epic EMR, preferred
  • Basic understanding of medical coding and billing, preferred

Work Environment and Schedule:

  • This job operates in a professional medical environment
  • Sunday-Saturday, 7:45am-8pm on a flexible scheduling basis (incl. weekends and holidays)
  • Approximately 45 hours per week
  • Salaried position for 10-13 shifts per month
  • Travel to attend periodic off-site management meetings and training
