Does the idea of working in an innovative production facility appeal to you? If so, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Set Up Technician! This role will be based out of our extrusion plant facility located in Fort Pierce.
Job Summary
This position will be responsible for assembling and maintaining equipment to ensure they are meeting production and quality expectations. This includes, but not limited to, start ups of products, changeovers, and troubleshooting tooling related issues. This role should be knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures associated with the industry and company standards.
Requirements
- Safety: maintain a safe work environment through training, adherence to policies and housekeeping.
- Start up and troubleshoot of the process related issues with production equipment, tooling, and auxiliary equipment.
- Position equipment, tooling and adjustments to achieve accurate product dimensions.
- Ensure mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at high quality.
- Fabricate, build, clean, and repair tooling as the need arises.
- Show expertise in working with team and independently.
- Train and teach Process Controllers.
- Collaborate and assist with production material trials and new products.
- Supervise and maintain output and run conditions to specified standards.
- Regularly inspecting, cleaning and performing maintenance on machinery to keep in quality working order.
- Complete accurate documentation and quality requirements.
- Build an extensive knowledge of the operation, safety features, and process steps.
- Other duties as delegated.
Complexity and judgment
Regularly encounters problems that involve multiple-choice options, but through prior exposure, experience and established procedures/policies can determine most appropriate course of action. Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks within well-defined standards.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2-4 years’ experience as a Set Up Technician or Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working with extruders preferred.
- Experience using Powered Industrial Vehicles and hand tools.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
Physical requirements
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Capacity to stand, lift, and perform for extended periods
- The ability to wear all required PPE including not restricted to safety glasses, hearing protection.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
CONTACTS
The incumbent interacts daily with the Manager, Team Coordinator and Operations Personnel. Daily interaction could be vital with the Production Planner, MSG Manager, Quality Control Manager, Plant Manager and Production Manager. Occasional contact may be required with other plant departments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical effort required is considerable due to heavy physical activities of various kinds. The physical environment including but such as but not confined to exposure to various substances or equipment this includes among others moving machinery, repetitive motions, noise, powered industrial equipment. Regular work is performed in a non-controlled temperature environment. These exposures could produce discomfort and/or moderate risk of accident or ill health. The sensory attention is deemed moderate because of often requiring increased demand on two or more senses at a time. The mental stress is considered moderate due to regular pressures from due dates, quotas and accuracy.
