Job Summary:
Palmdale currently operates in more than 50 counties across Florida and provides a wide range of tailored commercial fuel and lubricant solutions to customers in the agricultural, industrial, construction, marine, and government sectors. Operating out of 19 locations statewide, the company is a leader in the industry in the procurement and sale of gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, commercial and industrial lubricants, and chemicals that are used across a diverse set of end markets.
The Plant Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day operations while also focusing on long-term improvements in safety, customer service, and efficiency. Balancing these responsibilities ensures smooth operations and continued success of the plant. Below is a breakdown of these key areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Balancing Physical Bulk Plant & Truck Inventories
- Inventory Work Bench (IWB): Monitor each truck daily. When discrepancies and/or fuel losses occur, conduct investigation to determine the cause and necessary corrections.
- Daily Monitoring: Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of physical inventory levels, especially fuel and lubricants. When discrepancies and/or fuel losses occur, conduct investigation to determine the cause and necessary corrections.
- Ensure driver’s paperwork is properly completed and filed. Paperwork must be sent to logistics coordinators anytime that inventory workbench is off.
- Safety (Trucks & Site Management)
- Compliance: Ensure all trucks and the plant meet industry safety regulations and company policies.
- Safety Checks: Oversee the execution of daily safety inspections for trucks, equipment, and the plant. Ensure all equipment is maintained properly.
- Safety Culture: Promote a culture of safety among staff and drivers, encouraging adherence to safety protocols and conducting regular safety drills and training.
- Site Management
- Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the plant, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Staff Management: Lead and manage plant personnel, assign tasks, and ensure all operations are running smoothly.
- Maintenance: Ensure the plant and all equipment are well-maintained and in good working condition.
- Weekly Stand-Up Meetings
- Coordination: Organize and participate in weekly stand-up meetings to review. plant operations, discuss upcoming challenges, and strategize for improvements.
- Communication: Keep upper management and staff updated on the status of key projects, safety measures, and operational efficiency.
- Routing and Efficiency
- Route Planning: Work with logistics specialists to optimize delivery routes for drivers, ensuring timely deliveries while minimizing costs such as fuel and overtime.
- Ensure that drivers are adhering to the One Palmdale processes and receive appropriate training when needed.
- Image of the Plant and Drivers
- Professionalism: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional plant environment to reflect positively on the company.
- Driver Appearance and Behavior: Ensure drivers represent the company well, both in appearance and behavior, as they are often the face of the business for customers.
- Inspections for Plant, Trucks, and Equipment
- Regular Inspections: Ensure all trucks, equipment, and the plant undergo regular inspections to meet regulatory and company standards.
- Documentation: Maintain proper records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Customer Relationships and Sales Department Collaboration
- Customer Service: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and professionally.
- Sales Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to identify opportunities for growth, address customer concerns, and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Learning and Utilizing Software
- Software Proficiency: Gain proficiency in all company software such as inventory management (Inventory Workbench), routing tools (SkyBitz), ERP systems (iRely), and tank monitoring systems (Otodata, SmartTank, Titan Cloud).
- Process Improvement: Use these tools to streamline operations, manage resources, and improve overall plant efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business, logistics, or related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- At least 2-4 years of experience in plant management or transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of truck maintenance, and general safety regulations, and DOT compliance.
- Skills:
- Excellent organizational, communication, customer service and leadership skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task, as this position requires working independently and requires the ability to prioritize workload.
- Proficiency with fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Stable work history
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to spend extended periods sitting, standing, or walking.
