About the Role:
The Reading Interventionist for Lower School at Avant Garde Academy Foundation, Inc. plays a crucial role in enhancing students' literacy skills and fostering a love for reading. This position is dedicated to identifying students who require additional support in reading and implementing tailored intervention strategies to meet their individual needs. The Reading Interventionist will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational staff to create a supportive learning environment that encourages student growth. By utilizing evidence-based practices and ongoing assessments, the Reading Interventionist will track student progress and adjust interventions as necessary. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to ensure that all students achieve proficiency in reading, setting a strong foundation for their future academic success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Reading endorsement or a Master’s in Reading on their FLDOE certificate.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or endorsement in reading or literacy.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Reading or Literacy Education.
- Experience with specific reading intervention programs or methodologies.
- Familiarity with data analysis and progress monitoring tools.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' reading levels and specific areas of need.
- Develop and implement individualized reading intervention plans based on assessment data.
- Provide direct instruction to students in small groups or one-on-one settings.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading strategies into the general curriculum.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure effectiveness.
