Key Responsibilities
Your role will be multifaceted, supporting our patients and physicians across a range of critical functions.
Clinical & Patient Care Support:
- Patient Intake: Master our "digital-first" rooming process using the NextGen EHR system, including launching encounters , documenting the chief complaint , and reconciling medications and allergies.
- Procedure Preparation: Independently prepare for common procedures by setting up sterile trays for ingrown toenails, wound care, and orthotic casting using our photo-based visual guides.
- Specimen Collection: Ensure 100% accuracy in specimen handling by following critical steps for labeling , logging samples in the EHR , and posting confirmation for the clinical team.
- Diagnostic Support: Assist with in-office X-rays, including proper patient positioning for the three standard views and adherence to all safety protocols.
- DME & Orthotics: Manage the full DME workflow, from using the EHR tracking module and scanning financial consents to ordering specialized diabetic footwear through supplier portals.
Administrative & Operational Duties:
- Clinic Operations: Participate in vital opening and closing duties, such as powering on diagnostic equipment and conducting end-of-day PHI sweeps to ensure patient privacy.
- Team Collaboration: Prepare for and actively contribute to the daily team huddle by reviewing the patient schedule and anticipating clinical needs.
- Financial Duties: Execute the two-person cash reconciliation process with precision, ensuring funds are properly verified and secured.
- Patient Paperwork: Efficiently manage FMLA and disability form requests by monitoring our Microsoft Teams channel and pre-filling forms for physician review.
Safety & Compliance:
- Uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance by strictly adhering to all HIPAA and OSHA protocols.
- Confidently follow the clinic’s Emergency Action Plan and Post-Exposure Protocol.
- Maintain a safe clinical environment, with full knowledge of the location and use of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and biohazard waste disposal areas.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA) or a minimum of 2 years of equivalent, direct patient care experience.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- A strong, working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
- Impeccable attention to detail, reliability, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in a podiatry, orthopedic, or surgical outpatient clinic setting.
- Hands-on experience with DME fitting, sterile procedure setup, wound care, or diagnostic imaging.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
