A Day in the Life
Your mornings kick off aligning with the Early-Stage Project Manager and Development teams—clarifying engineering scope, risks, and permitting needs. By midday, you’re collaborating across disciplines to advance site selection, geotechnical and survey plans, and design packages. Afternoons are about decisions: awarding work through NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), managing long-lead material strategies, and briefing leadership on status, risks, and mitigations. You close the day by supporting Transmission Services on interconnection reviews and confirming deliverables meet transmission owner/operator/ISO and off-taker requirements.
What You’ll Lead
- End-to-end oversight of assigned substation projects—from early-stage development to commissioning.
- Development of scopes of work, competitive bidding, evaluation, and award of engineering partners via NEER’s ISC.
- Site development coordination, including data, engineering updates, and permitting.
- Competitive sourcing and contracting for geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services; supporting E&C cost estimating assumptions.
- Cross-functional leadership to represent E&C interests internally and externally; prepare and deliver progress briefings to multiple management levels.
- Support for Transmission Services during interconnection documentation reviews.
- Regular engagement with transmission owners/operators/ISOs to ensure accurate deliverables that meet specific off-taker requirements.
- Management of long-lead major material orders to reduce schedule and budget risk.
- Assistance to ISC with substation SOW creation/approvals and timely shopping cart preparation for engineering services and materials.
- Contributions to E&C Estimating template updates with technical feedback and scope refinements.
- Clarification of work plans and lines of demarcation across project engineering resources.
- Commissioning support to meet corporate milestones and performance targets.
- Support to Legal in regulatory filings, depositions, and hearings.
What You Bring
- 15+ years of substation engineering and project leadership experience, ideally within utility-scale renewables.
- Proven success driving multi-disciplinary teams from concept through commissioning.
- Fluency with interconnection processes, utility/ISO interfaces, and long-lead material management.

Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base pay: $91.00/hr. to $96.00/hr. (dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills)
