· Performs all MRI procedures and maintains a thorough working knowledge of the operation of all MRI equipment.
· MRI technologists utilize their knowledge of anatomy, physiology and the principles of MRI to safely and efficiently operate MRI scanners, assisting in the diagnosis of disease and injury.
· Safely operates the scanner and injector in order to produce diagnostic quality MR images.
· Responsible for assessing and clearing the patient for MRI safety. Reviews the physician order or patient chart for appropriate order, diagnosis and physicians’ signature.
· Set appropriate technical parameters, operate MRI scanners and related equipment, and observe image data on computer monitors during scans.
· Be familiar with the differences from a normal image and an abnormal image.
· Assure compliance with federal, state, and local technical and professional regulations and accepted practiced guidelines.
· Prepares the patient for the procedure and answers any questions. Position patients and coils on a table that slides inside the MRI scanner. Inject contrast media as required.
· Responsible for beginning and ending the procedure in the computer system to ensure proper billing for services and maintains accurate record of patients.
· Works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.
· Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and patients, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
· May perform other duties major and minor to contribute to the overall success of Encore Imaging.
· Frequent lifting of 25 lbs. or more.
Education and Formal Training:
· Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
· Possess current ARRT or ARMRIT certification
· CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
· Must maintain CPR certification at all times
