BSA Investigator III Team Lead
Banesco USA is seeking a BSA Investigator III Team Lead for our Financial Investigations Unit.
Primary Job Duties
- Responsible for communicating with internal and external entities, members of the sales team and other Banesco USA BSA/AML monitoring units.
- Collect and examine financial statements and documents to assist in identifying unusual transaction patterns.
- Conduct research over available Bank systems, the Internet and Databases consistent with the resolution of investigations.
- Write and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and recommend relationship retention or termination and track account closures as required.
- Interact with Senior Management on the Compliance, Legal and business sectors concerning BSA/AML issues.
- Document and report the investigation findings and prepare case files for review (e.g., media search results, copies of statements/checks, results from internal system searches, etc.).
- Document all research and analysis conducted in ECS Case Management.
- Follow-up with additional Point(s) of Contact (POC) as needed to identify additional information in support of the case.
- Liaise with other Banesco USA units, such as Business and Compliance teams, Legal, and Law Enforcement.
- Triage cases and identify items appropriate for escalation to Senior Management.
- Perform the Quality Control of cases worked by other Investigators.
- Perform the final edit/QC of SAR drafts and file accordingly.
- Provide directions to junior staff, such as training and mentoring regarding BSA Investigations and/or the EDD high risk account review process.
- Other special projects assigned by the FIU Manager/Deputy BSA Officer.
- Attend inside/outside BSA/AML/OFAC seminars/trainings assigned by the Department Managers.
- Must comply with Banesco USA's BSA/AML Program.
- Responsible for completing annual training program assigned.
- Performs other functions and/or duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Experience: 7 years of experience in the Banking industry in the BSA/Compliance area, working as an investigator or monitoring analyst with SAR filing ability, and experience managing teams or in a team-lead capacity.
- Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Knowledge of related state and federal banking BSA/ AML regulations.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
- ACAMS or BSA/AML certification preferred.
- Advance computer skills including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
- Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish. Ability to fluently speak, understand, read and write both languages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task, with strong organization, time-management and prioritizing skills.
- Knowledge of BSA/AML standards and practices.
- Intermediate knowledge of related State and Federal banking compliance regulations and operational policies.
- Ability to work in a team environment ensures deadlines are met.
- Ability to understand and comprehend instructions, procedures and policies ensuring compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
- Intermediate knowledge of bank’s operational activities, terminology and products and services.
