Job DescriptionDescription:
A YMCA Childwatch Staff member is responsible for providing a safe, caring, and engaging environment for children while their parents or guardians are using YMCA facilities. This role involves supervising children, leading age-appropriate activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the Childwatch area.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment in the Childwatch area, including toys, books, and materials.
- Ensure that all sign-in/sign-out procedures for children are followed and that records are accurate.
- Greet parents and children as they arrive, ensuring parents provide necessary information regarding their child’s needs.
- Ensure parents understand pick-up procedures and are promptly notified if there are any issues with their child.
- Supervise children during play and activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
We are looking for someone who can work weekdays from 4pm - 7pm and Saturdays 8am - 11:30 am
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience working with children in a daycare, camp, or similar environment (preferred).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children and adults.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, especially in situations involving children’s needs or safety concerns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks at once.
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
