Job Summary: The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Maintenance Manager in tasks that ensure that residents, employees, staff, and stakeholders are provided a safe and well-functioning facility.
JOB DUTIES & COMPETENCIES:
- Perform maintenance-oriented duties under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
- Perform all tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, HVAC and tests and inspections of the facility.
- Change air filters as required through the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Maintain facility grounds in a neat and attractive appearance when contract service is not available.
- Perform various janitorial duties as needed.
- Keep tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location, locked when not in use and not accessible to residents.
- Order or purchase supplies as needed, which may include using personal or facility vehicle.
- Assumes key role in identifying patient safety concerns in the physical environment and addressing immediately.
- Maintains paperwork including documentation demonstrating completion of all appropriate maintenance of life safety equipment and building features.
- Take necessary safety precautions when handling hand/power tools and equipment.
- Comply with established measures for Infection Control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies and procedures.
- Assist in assuring a safe and risk preventive environment.
- Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Maintenance Manager.
- Attitude demonstrates a positive approach and commitment reflecting professionalism and ethical standards.
- Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
- Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality
REQUIREMENTS & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED preferable but experience may be substituted in lieu of a diploma
- Minimum of two years’ experience in plant/facilities management, hospital or building management.
- Must have complete understanding of OSHA and patient heath and safety requirements.
- Also, must have knowledge of precision tools and methods used in various skilled trades and of materials and their application
