Power Electronics/Inverter Engineer
Remote (with frequent travel to Juno Beach, FL, 33408)

Overview of the Role:
Were looking for a Power Electronics/Inverter Engineer SME to join a global renewable energy leader. In this role, you will commission, test, and optimize utility-scale inverter systems across solar, battery energy storage (BESS), and hybrid renewable projects. Your expertise will ensure reliable, safe, and efficient clean energy delivery to communities nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead factory integration testing (FIT) for utility-scale inverters (1MW+ capacity).
- Execute and support site acceptance testing (SAT) including functional, performance, and grid compliance protocols.
- Perform commissioning of inverter control systems and power electronics components.
- Manage inverter startup sequencing and initial energization procedures.
- Diagnose inverter faults using OEM software tools and advanced diagnostics.
- Coordinate and witness PPA, LGIA, and OEM testing to meet COD requirements.
- Develop and execute test plans for grid compliance, performance, and safety.
- Ensure testing meets utility standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
- Document results and deliver detailed technical reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with SCADA teams to analyze inverter control and communication protocols.
- Review, create, and optimize inverter parameter models for different project types.
- Support remote connectivity and monitoring system integration.
- Provide technical expertise for SCADA HMI development and data point configuration.
- Develop and manage deployment procedures, quality control protocols, and warranty processes.
- Identify potential technical issues and implement corrective actions to avoid delays.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, utilities, and internal teams.
- Manage project timelines and ensure deliverables meet client standards.
- Connect remotely to inverter software systems for diagnostics, adjustments, and optimization.
- Provide remote technical support during commissioning and operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in power electronics and utility-scale inverter systems.
- Experience with advanced inverter functions (volt-var control, frequency response, grid forming).
- Strong understanding of power system operations, SCADA, and EMS applications (SE, CA, OPF).
- Hands-on experience with network, telemetry mapping, and database management.
- Familiarity with ICCP/TASE.2 and RTU protocols.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP).
- Knowledge of process control commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
- Experience reviewing drawing packages and OEM specifications against installed equipment.
- Ability to understand SCADA and communication schematics and drawings.
- Knowledge of automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP, etc.).
- Experience managing third-party firms.
- Strong scheduling and project planning knowledge.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
