Position Description:

The Sales Manager manages the sales floor to ensure the profitability of the Automotive Dealership by planning, motivating, and coordinating the dealership’s management through leadership and solid business practices.


ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create dealership sales forecasts by estimating total vehicle sales, gross and PVR.
  • Maintain a gross profit average on a monthly basis to ensure the dealership is profitable and minimizing of expenses.
  • Always retain a level of salespeople to handle the flow of customers.
  • Implement and maintain the required high level of CSI for each employee and for the store on a monthly basis.
  • Audit all appraisals of trade-in vehicles.
  • Plan and develop short and long-term goals and objectives annually.
  • Submit time projections to Executive Management for approval.
  • Effectively communicate with Executive Management on an on-going basis to review departmental forecasts.
  • Monitor closely daily sales operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action when necessary.
  • Provide Executive Management with weekly reports on the financials of the dealership.
  • Create a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel and maintain these relationships.
  • Oversee and maintain compensation plans for all sales employees.
  • Focus on any customer complaints and take the necessary steps to resolve.
  • Maintain an enthusiastic attitude building positive employee attitudes and morale.
  • Other duties assigned by Management

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • 5+ years minimum dealership sales and supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work with others in a complex matrix structure.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand profit and loss statements.
  • Ability to manage large, diverse staff.
  • Ability to work a (6) day work week.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Computer and internet savvy.
  • Proactive in nature.
  • Ability to plan and organize daily selling activities.
  • Ability to secure new business with daily follow up.
  • Experience in working with CRM's and follow up.
  • Experience providing quality customer service.
  • Strong team leader and team player.
  • Strong negotiation skills.

Education/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
  • Extensive sales experience, typically several years, in the dealership's specific industry is essential. Should have a proven track record of successful sales performance.
  • Strong leadership and management skills are crucial for this role. The ability to lead and motivate a sales team is a key requirement.
  • A deep understanding of the dealership's industry, its products or services, and the competitive landscape is important. This knowledge helps in making informed decisions and staying competitive.
  • Ability to train in sales techniques, customer relationship management, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication is crucial for managing a sales team and interacting with customers. Good interpersonal and presentation skills are necessary.
  • An understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and profit margins is important for managing the dealership's sales and ensuring profitability.
  • Proficiency with software and tools used in sales management, CRM systems, and data analysis tools
  • A focus on providing excellent customer service and resolving customer issues is important, as it can lead to customer retention and repeat business.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets, highly results-oriented and able to develop strategies to achieve those goals.
  • The ability to identify and address challenges, both within the sales team and in the sales process, is essential.
