Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our eye care team. The Optometrist will provide comprehensive vision care services including eye examinations, diagnosis and management of ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, and patient education. The ideal candidate is detailoriented, up to date with the latest in optometric tools and treatments, and committed to delivering excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough eye examinations and vision assessments using diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnose and manage common ocular diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses and contact lenses tailored to patient needs.
  • Provide pre and postoperative care for patients undergoing eye surgery when applicable.
  • Advise patients on preventive eye health measures, visual hygiene, and overall wellness.
  • Record and maintain detailed patient histories and medical records in compliance with clinic standards.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers when necessary.
  • Stay current with advances in optometry by participating in continuing education and training.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school.
  • Valid state license to practice optometry.
  • Certification in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents or other advanced qualifications as required by state law.
  • Clinical experience diagnosing and treating ocular disease, prescribing lenses, and managing patient care (13 years preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact well with patients of all ages.
  • Competence with diagnostic equipment and technologies used in modern optometry.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in specialty areas such as pediatrics, geriatric care, lowvision, or myopia control.
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
  • Experience in both retail optical and medical/clinical settings.
  • Comfort with business and operational aspects of a practice.

Working Conditions

  • Fulltime or parttime schedule depending on practice needs.
  • May require some evenings or weekends depending on patient demand.
  • Office or clinic environment with regular use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Possible travel between multiple clinic locations if applicable.
