We are searching for a highly skilled, hands-on Facilities Manager who thrives under pressure and possesses a deep, mandatory understanding of complex building mechanics. This is not a desk job—you will be personally responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation and preservation of a prominent public asset.
The core focus is mastering the MEP infrastructure, with immediate expertise needed in HVAC and Chilling Systems.
The Technical Expertise Required
You will be the final authority on system integrity, performing and overseeing critical maintenance:
- HVAC Systems Mastery: You will oversee and directly perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on our entire climate control system, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and air handlers, ensuring strict climate compliance.
- Building Automation (BAS): Expertly monitor and manage BAS platforms like Metasys (Johnson Controls). Your weekly trend reports will directly influence operational efficiency.
- Emergency Readiness: Ensure the immediate and efficient activation of backup generators and pump operations.
- Hands-On Maintenance: Lead or execute repairs across all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, general maintenance (carpentry, painting), and grounds upkeep.
- Compliance: Drive energy conservation efforts and maintain strict compliance with all building codes and safety standards.
Leadership & Crisis Management
- Team Leadership: Direct, schedule, coach, and evaluate the maintenance staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Vendor Authority: Manage all contracted services and vendors, ensuring scopes of work are executed flawlessly and within budget.
- The On-Call Commitment: You are the 24/7 point person for all facility emergencies, requiring the depth of technical skill and crisis management to respond effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications That Get You the Interview
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial building operations (institutional/public setting preferred) with confirmed supervisory responsibility.
- Technical Skills: Mandatory strong, demonstrated understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Education: High school diploma/GED plus technical training; Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Equipment: Proficiency in operating general maintenance equipment (lifts, motorized/manual forklifts, saws, drills, etc.).
