**Job Summary:**
As an Automotive Paint Prep Technician, you will play a crucial role in the vehicle painting process by preparing vehicles for painting and refinishing. You will be responsible for ensuring that all surfaces are properly cleaned, sanded, and primed to guarantee a flawless finish. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare vehicles for painting by washing, sanding, and masking as needed.
- Inspect surfaces for imperfections and repair minor dents, scratches, and rust.
- Apply primers, sealers, and other preparatory coatings to ensure optimal adhesion of paint.
- Use various hand and power tools, including sanders, buffers, and spray guns, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Follow paint shop safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Collaborate with the paint team to ensure quality control and timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Monitor inventory of paint prep materials and notify the supervisor when supplies are low.
- Assist in other automotive repair tasks as needed and directed by management.
**Qualifications:**
- Previous experience in automotive painting or paint preparation is preferred.
- Knowledge of paint products, tools, and techniques is essential.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
