Job Responsibilities

As an optometrist, your role goes beyond just prescribing contacts and eyeglasses. You will encounter a variety of anterior and posterior segment pathologies, managing ocular diseases at your comfort level, including:

  • Treating corneal ulcers and uveitis
  • Addressing red eye issues
  • Diagnosing diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma
  • Removing foreign bodies
  • Diagnosing macular disease, retinal holes, and retinal detachments

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an Accredited School of Optometry
  • State Licensed or will be licensed to practice Optometry (New Graduates) in the state where you will be practicing
