Compensation & Benefits:

This is a salaried position, and salary is negotiable. Entry level associates are typically offered between $70,000 and $90,000 based on law school ranking and relevant experience. Benefits include annual bonuses, fully paid health, vision, dental, and $50k in life insurance after 60 days; 401K with 4% matching after one year. Two weeks of paid vacation to start, three weeks of paid vacation after one year, and four weeks of paid vacation after five years. There are fifteen paid holidays per year.

Job Description:

Fast paced insurance defense & commercial litigation firm of six attorneys is looking for an insurance defense associate. Experience will be considered for purposes of compensation, but it is not required. As part of our team, you will work closely with a team of other attorneys and administrative professionals to represent clients in a range of cases. Our office handles litigation involving first party insurance claims, insurance coverage, premises liability, employment practices, professional liability, and directors’ and officers’ suits. Typical tasks may include:

• Attending hearings, mediations, site inspections, and depositions
• Developing case strategy
• Legal research
• Meeting with clients
• Preparing communications to clients, experts, judges, mediators, and opposing counsel
• Preparing outgoing discovery requests
• Responding to discovery
• Compiling exhibits for court filings
• Preparing reports and opinions for insurers

Qualifications:

• Law School Graduate
• Comfortable attending court
• Excellent phone demeanor
• Excellent written communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work with and without direction
• Ability to work as a team
• Organized, efficient, and dependable
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and Outlook or Apple Mail
• Moot court, law review, or trial team preferred
• Florida Bar Admission or pending admission
