About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled IP Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting large-scale enterprise networks. This position requires a strong foundation in core routing and switching technologies, along with comfort working in environments that leverage both commercial and open-source network management solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise IP networks.
- Implement, monitor, and optimize OSPF, Spanning Tree, VxLAN, and GRE technologies.
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 2/Layer 3 issues across multi-vendor environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient network solutions.
- Support and enhance open-source network monitoring and management applications.
- Provide documentation, topology diagrams, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in:
- OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
- VxLAN
- GRE tunneling
- Strong understanding of enterprise routing and switching best practices.
- Comfortable with open-source networking and monitoring applications (e.g., LibreNMS, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a Network Engineer (NOTE: This is a contractual requirement that we can not make exceptions for. If you do not meet this requirement, we are not allowed to hire you for this position).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Fortinet Firewalls.
- Knowledge of Ruckus switches.
- Familiarity with Ansible automation for network configuration management.
- Exposure to advanced network security and NAC concepts.

It is an independent Laboratory, serving equipment vendors, venture capital groups, and service providers. Technology Assurance Labs was formed by Ken Stauffer and Doug Peeples, who also created EPIK Labs in 2000. The founders have over 30 years experience in the telecommunications business having worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories, IBM, NORTEL, EPIK Communications, and numerous other companies. In 2000 they lead a group to create the vision and design for the NAP of the Americas in Miami, Florida. Recently they architected, designed, tested, and deployed a statewide, 10G Fiber Optic Network, with Ethernet and IP routing for the State of Florida DOT Turnpike Tolls.
