LABOR CATEGORY - SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer’s purpose is to solve technical problems, develop applicable documentation, and supervise all assigned resources to support the assigned project. The Senior Engineer assists the engineering organization in determining the technical requirements of the project, defining resource requirements to achieve schedule and budget commitments, and solving technical issues as they arise within the field of competence.


LABOR CATEGORY - ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Work independently in solving technical issues
• Plan, estimate, schedule and monitor assigned work and the work of assigned resources
• Able to track progress, report progress, recommend improvements to budget and schedule, and recommend reductions to budget and schedule
• Capable to facilitate communications of issues and solutions throughout FMM, subcontract, or customers. Capable to mentor team members in effective communication techniques.
• Capable to prepare, check and issue professional quality deliverables, mentor team members on improving performance deliverables, and mentor subcontract on improving performance of deliverables
• Capable of interpreting contract requirements, applying to functional assignments, and able to mentor team members and subcontract in their understanding
• Skilled to identify and develop contract change documents to support the project needs. Capable to mentor fellow team members and subcontractors.
• Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures. Mentor fellow team members and subcontractors in development, explanation, and guidance of policies and procedures.
• Capable to lead or participate in product improvement projects and working groups
• Proficient to define, track, monitor, and provide direction for subcontract activities.
• Able to define, track and control subcontractor activities
• Effectively supervise and mentor assigned resources during onboarding, skill development, or projects.


LABOR CATEGORY - SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Engineer also demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company. The Senior Engineer may directly mentor or supervise 2 to 10 employees. Mentoring and supervisory responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. An Engineer II may be included with interviewing potential new team members and training employees. With supervising, this may include planning, assigning, and directing work of assigned individuals, participating in the appraising performance, addressing complaints with development opportunities, and resolving problems.

LABOR CATEGORY - EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 6 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence.
• This requirement can also be met with an Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 8 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence, or a High School Diploma or GED and 9 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence.
• Supervisory experience desired.
• Six Sigma or LEAN training desired.

TMMG is seeking a full-time Naval Ship Test & Trials HP&E Engineer to provide shipyard Test Director support during the construction of Naval ships in a shipyard environment. The Naval Ship Test & Trials HP&E Engineer will be responsible for maintaining build schedule for Naval ships to meet all Naval Ship Test & Trials HP&E milestone and key event requirements and all related support items to light off and test the systems in preparation for all trials events including Builder Dock Trials, Builders Sea Trials and Acceptance Trials. Candidate must be self-motivated, self-directed, self-managed and exhibited excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Position Requirements:.
- Experienced marine engineer with professional experience operating, repairing, testing, and maintaining shipboard Hull, Propulsion and Electrical equipment, components, and systems.
- Extensive hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing Hull, Propulsion and Electrical shipboard systems .
- Knowledge of latest marine equipment and system technologies.
- Recent shipyard experience with the ability to work in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of applicable government and commercial shipbuilding regulations.
- Experience with operation and testing of shipboard equipment for regulatory bodies and other government agencies.
- Knowledge of test procedure development process and structure including edits and revisions.
- Experience with engaging OEM’s for technical support and parts acquisition in order to maintain schedule adherence.
- Ability to develop, coordinate, direct, and execute comprehensive test plans, integrated test activities and procedures of multiple disciplines.
- Capacity to evaluate problems relative to the impact on the overall test plan/ schedule and formulate mitigating action plans.
- Review and evaluate test results and prepare comprehensive system level evaluations to ensure system technical requirements and operational specifications have been achieved.
- Experience in training shipboard crew members and junior test engineers on all Electrical systems and their proper operation.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Test & Trials Planning:
• Develop detailed test and trials plans, including specific test procedures for Hull, Propulsion and Electrical systems.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (design, engineering, operations) to schedule and prioritize test activities.
• Ensure all test procedures comply with applicable military and safety standards.


2. System Testing & Performance Validation:
• Lead on-board and off-board testing of ship Hull, Propulsion and Electrical systems during trials.
• Perform operational testing to ensure systems function as per design specifications and operational requirements.
• Monitor system behavior, performance, and reliability under varying conditions and document results.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified during trials, working with the engineering team to make adjustments or Improvements.


3. Reporting & Documentation:
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for test plans, results, and trial reports.
• Analyze and interpret data from testing, highlighting any issues or non-conformities and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide written and verbal status updates to senior management and key stakeholders on test progress, results, and any emerging concerns.


4. Collaboration & Coordination:
• Collaborate with shipbuilders, ship operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless execution of tests and trials.
• Work closely with the design engineering teams to interpret technical specifications and ensure system designs meet operational and safety standards.
• Liaise with technical authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all relevant naval standards and regulations.


5. Continuous Improvement & Optimization:
• Identify areas for continuous improvement in testing processes, methodologies, and equipment.
• Provide feedback to design and engineering teams to enhance future ship designs and operational procedures.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve testing techniques and standards.


6. Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure all testing and trials activities adhere to safety standards, risk management protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor for any potential safety hazards during testing and take immediate action to mitigate risks.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in naval ship testing, trials, or related field, with hands-on experience in hull, propulsion, or electrical system testing.
• Proven experience with naval vessel systems and operations, including understanding of propulsion machinery, electrical distribution systems, and hull structural systems.
• Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting, performance testing, and data analysis.
• Knowledge of relevant naval safety regulations, military standards, and classification society requirements.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse groups across departments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in high-pressure environments.


Desired Skills & Experience:
• Master’s degree or equivalent professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is a plus.
• Experience with shipyard trials and/or commissioning of new ships.
• Experience in risk management and safety systems relevant to naval ship testing.
• Ability to coordinate production, vendors, and outside agencies for required test and trials activities, both in yard and post-delivery if necessary.
• Ability to research design and implementation issues, read and translate ship drawings, and communicate implementation approaches and deficiencies.
• Sound knowledge and experience with USN regulatory body requirements, classification standards, marine engineering practices, specifications and rules for above areas.
• Ability to perform analysis and studies in depth, make professional presentations, and keep up with technical advancements in above areas.
• Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills. [Prefer knowledge of how to use Visio, AutoCAD and/or Naviswork]
• Must have strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work onboard ships in various sea states, including confined spaces and environments with significant noise levels.
• Willingness to travel to shipyards, docking facilities, and other locations as required.
• Climb tall ladders, crawl tanks/bilges in confined spaces, inspect from aerial lifts, and work in adverse environments for long periods. Periodically lift-up to 50 pounds and be able to walk to/from job sites.
