Location: Punta Gorda, FL (with occasional travel to Fort Myers)
Department: Surgery.
Reports To: Senior Surgical Specialist and Clinical Director.

Position Overview:
As a Surgery Scheduling Counselor, you will be a vital member of the Surgery Department, acting as the liaison between patients, surgeons, referring physicians, and surgical facilities. Your role is to guide patients through the surgical scheduling and counseling process while also supporting clinical operations as needed, including assisting with patient workups, diagnostic testing, and scribing. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence, especially as the clinic continues to grow.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate and schedule all surgical procedures and related appointments ensuring all pre/post steps are followed.
- Educate patients on procedures and provide thorough support throughout the surgical journey.
- Verify insurance benefits and manage all documentation for surgical planning.
- Assemble surgery folders, post-op kits, and documentation for surgical facilities.
- Provide outstanding communication and customer service, both in person and over the phone.
- Assist in clinic with patient workups, diagnostic testing, and scribing as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- High School Diploma required.
- Prior ophthalmic experience required - including assisting or scribing preferred.
- Experience with surgical scheduling and patient coordination is a plus.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is highly preferred.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and follow – through.
- A warm, professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to multitask, solve problems, and take ownership of responsibilities
- Ability to work professionally under pressure with a warm, patient-focused demeanor.
