Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose patients with mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management and psychotherapy
- Conduct routine check-ups, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies
- Prescribe and manage medications, including psychotropic medications and controlled substances
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes and treatment plans
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop treatment plans
- Stay current with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in psychiatric-mental health nursing
RequirementsRequirements:
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing
- Current licensures as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of practice
- Current certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a PMHNP in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to evaluate patients with complex mental health needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of autonomy and independence
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric-mental health nursing principles, including psychopharmacology and psychotherapy
- Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes and treatment plans
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound clinical decisions
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and communication
