Job Summary
The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials as per drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed
- Operates stationary power tools, hand power tools and hand tools
- Layout, cut and assemble parts such as doors, paneling, boxes, rails and trim
- Performs joinery work on vessel to fabricate and fit bulkheads, ceilings, windshield, windows, furniture, cabinet, desks, trims, handrails, cap rails and any other marine related joinery work
- Install prefabricated and/or custom parts such as hatches, marine hardware, metal trim and other parts
- Applies knowledge of woodworking joints in the marine industry
- Builds scaffolding and other construction structures
- Able to read technical documents and drawings
- Fabricate templates
- Know how to work with acrylic materials
- Following company, industry and best practices regarding safety standards (safe equipment usage, personal protective equipment, reporting)

Work Experience
Years of relevant work experience required: minimum 3-5 years experience in the carpentry trade or industry
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
- Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
- Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
