Job Summary

The Carpenter is responsible for constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials as per drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed
  • Operates stationary power tools, hand power tools and hand tools
  • Layout, cut and assemble parts such as doors, paneling, boxes, rails and trim
  • Performs joinery work on vessel to fabricate and fit bulkheads, ceilings, windshield, windows, furniture, cabinet, desks, trims, handrails, cap rails and any other marine related joinery work
  • Install prefabricated and/or custom parts such as hatches, marine hardware, metal trim and other parts
  • Applies knowledge of woodworking joints in the marine industry
  • Builds scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Able to read technical documents and drawings
  • Fabricate templates
  • Know how to work with acrylic materials
  • Following company, industry and best practices regarding safety standards (safe equipment usage, personal protective equipment, reporting)

Work Experience

Years of relevant work experience required: minimum 3-5 years experience in the carpentry trade or industry

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
  • Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
  • Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
