TRAKAmerica is a national accounts receivable management and outsourcing provider for many of the largest financial institutions in the country. We currently have an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant who will join our existing dynamic team which manages the processes associated with facilitating witness appearances, reviewing draft discovery packages, liaising between a network of law firms and clients, and also provides other support in the legal operations of the company. This position is classified as non-exempt under the FLSA and will be entitled to overtime for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given work week.

Position Summary:

The Witness & Discovery group is part of the company’s Legal Department and serves as the primary interaction point for the company’s nationwide network of law firms and its clients relative to pending litigation matters requiring a witness appearance or response to discovery demands.

Witness - The Case Manager will oversee active litigation cases from intake through resolution, evaluating opportunities to expedite and drive successful outcomes based on both intake information and independent research, using various resources along with strategic questioning.

Discovery - The Case Manager will also oversee the draft discovery submission process, ensuring all requirements are satisfied, information is accurate, and responses align with defined standards. They identify escalation factors and manage timelines to ensure responses are delivered to clients and returned to firms by the specified due date.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Review, assess and prioritize incoming requests
  • Perform case review and analysis
  • Evaluate strategies through diagnostic inquiry and strategic questioning
  • Track deadlines and progress across active litigation cases
  • Verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards
  • Screen for escalation factors
  • Proactively identify patterns or opportunities to improve process and overall case handling
  • Adapt quickly across varied case types, procedural rules and other requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication with internal teams, law firms and clients
  • Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Assist with additional tasks and projects as necessary
