Overview:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of technical staff and engineering services across the organization. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality design and construction documents, fosters innovation, manages engineering teams, and supports business development efforts to meet client and market needs.

The Engineering Manager also plays a key role in project execution, quality assurance, team leadership, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight for engineering standards, technical capabilities, and project delivery processes.

  • Collaborate with other technical leaders to improve design quality, minimize project risk, and enhance firmwide technical practices.

  • Support internal quality control and quality assurance initiatives through regular reviews and participation in technical forums.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of training programs to ensure technical staff are skilled, current, and well-equipped.

Business Development

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.

  • Participate in client presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients.

  • Collaborate with regional or market sector leaders to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

Project Management

  • Oversee engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to scope.

  • Manage project teams and coordinate resource allocation across departments.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards and client expectations in all project deliverables.

Financial Management

  • Monitor project budgets and support revenue targets.

  • Ensure accurate invoicing and financial reporting to maintain project profitability.

  • Track project pipelines and forecast staffing needs and financial performance.

Technical Services

  • Develop and implement firmwide technical standards and best practices.

  • Review and sign off on engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Support the development of construction bid packages and project schedules.

  • Apply engineering expertise to support design calculations, reporting, and technical problem-solving.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff in accordance with company policies.

  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members.

  • Promote a positive, productive work environment that supports employee growth and project success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including project and staff management.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc.).

  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale, profitable projects.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

  • Valid driver’s license required.
