About the Role

The Field Service Engineer I is a hands-on, field-based technical role responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medical and industrial equipment at customer sites.

This is not an IT support role, not remote, and not desk-based. The work involves servicing electro-mechanical products, diagnosing physical equipment failures, and performing on-site repairs in hospital and industrial environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and commission equipment at customer sites
  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs
  • Troubleshoot equipment down to the Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) level
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues on electro-mechanical systems
  • Service products with complex wiring harnesses and sensitive electronic components
  • Use professional diagnostic tools including:
    • Digital multimeters
    • Vacuum / pressure meters
    • Frequency counters
  • Travel extensively and work independently in the field
  • Accurately document service work, repairs, and recommendations


Required Skills & Technical Knowledge (Non-Negotiable)

Candidates must meet all of the following:

  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment down to the FRU level
  • Hands-on experience servicing electro-mechanical products
  • Experience servicing products with complex wiring harnesses and sensitive electronic components
  • Proficiency using common service tools, including digital multimeters, pressure/vacuum meters, and frequency counters
  • Ability to work independently in customer environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%, including overnight stays


Secondary / Preferred Skills

  • Experience servicing optical products (strong plus)
  • Familiarity with Command Line or PowerShell for diagnostic or support purposes (not IT administration)
  • Associate degree, technical certification, military training, or equivalent hands-on experience
