SCOPE:

Plan and implement a job coaching strategy leading to the employment success of students with disabilities in the work setting; assess the work readiness skills of students in collaboration with the employment partner; model and support effective employability skills that aid students to sustain viable work; assist students with disabilities learn effective communication skills; create and update weekly reports on student progress; contribute to the mission of Goodwill by portraying a positive image of the organization, while working within the limits of prescribed routines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides community-based job training for paid and non-paid work experiences for students with disabilities.

2. Trains students to complete new tasks, adjust to changes in work schedule, adjust to new supervisors, and manage other changes at the work site.

3. Helps students to understand the job culture, industry practices, and work behaviors.

4. Aids employers and coworkers to understand the training methods and accommodations needed by the student workers.

5. Provides job site training, direct supervision, and monitoring of students in small groups and/or 1:1 at on-campus and community job sites.

6. Records data related to student performance and documents student progress.

7. Maintains professionalism in school affairs.

8. Successfully complete required Professional Development on industry certifications offered by the school.

9. Support students to pass industry certification exams successfully.


OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.

2. Perform or aid with any duties or operations, as needed to support workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.

3. Maintain safe work area and follow safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.

4. Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge about new developments, requirements, and policies.


Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

1. Experience and education equivalent to High School Diploma or GED preferred.

2. Minimum one (1) year previous job coaching experience preferred.

3. Ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communicate skills.

4. Ability to follow instructions and attentive to details.

5. Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a positive manner; excellent customer service skills.

6. Ability to work some evenings, weekends.

7. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and OneDrive


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Repetitive pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping, and bending

2. Prolonged periods of standing and walking

3. Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. minimum
