Boutique Florida law firm looking for a self-motivated civil litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal to join our unique and energetic legal team for the benefit of our extraordinary clients located all over the world. Located in Fort Lauderdale but opening a new Boca Raton office soon.
Responsibilities:
- E-file in Florida and federal courts
- Prepare pleadings, discovery requests/responses, legal correspondence, hearing/trial binders, pretrial stipulations
- Schedule and calendar court and other deadlines, meetings, etc.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, court staff, court reporters, etc.
- Prepare for, support and attend trials, arbitrations, mediations and depositions when needed
- Conduct basic legal research
- Locate and develop case relevant information
Skills:
- Proven work experience as paralegal and/or legal assistant in civil litigation
- Familiarity with legal procedures and protocols of state and federal court systems including the Florida and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable Local Rules and Court Administrative Procedures of the Florida courts
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a law office
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency with Florida and federal e-filing systems
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple assignments and work under time constraints
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000 per year or more depending on experience and skill
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts but largely self-designed and flexible
- Monday to Friday
- Work Location: In person (with occasional work from home days when necessary)
