Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (3-6 months)
Compensation: $58/installation, $240/non-installation days, $100/down days, $50/MVP awards, travel stipends
Travel: 80%+ (90% during 3-6-month training)

Job Purpose

As a Smart Home Technology Installer, you'll deliver expert-level installation and service of cutting-edge smart home technologies. You'll ensure high-quality installations, provide exceptional customer service, and comply with industry standards. The role includes a 3-6-month training period with cross-training in our Smart Vehicle department, offering Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install smart home components (wiring, screens, cameras) per company and industry standards.

  • Track jobs using dispatching/reporting tools, maintaining logs for start/finish times and work details.

  • Communicate with Tech Implementation Managers, Program Managers, and clients to exceed satisfaction expectations.

  • Manage inventory and prepare proactively for installation jobs.

  • Report issues during installations to headquarters promptly.

  • Adhere to safety rules and quality control standards.

  • Provide exceptional customer service with honesty and integrity.

  • Cross-train in Smart Vehicle department (90% travel) for 3-6 months, installing/servicing camera systems and GPS units for commercial vehicles in the Waste/Recycle Industry.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of electrical/wiring or mechanical/repair experience or certification.

  • Valid driver's license, personal transportation, and vehicle insurance.

  • Ability to pass drug test and carry worker's compensation insurance.

  • Own basic tools for installations.

  • Transferable field technician experience (e.g., cable, internet, construction, solar, mechanic) preferred.

  • MECP certification preferred (training provided).

  • Strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in teams.

  • Excellent communication skills for client and team interactions.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift/carry up to 45 lbs.

  • Climb ladders up to 14 feet; work in attics, tight spaces, and under vehicles.

  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.

  • Perform repetitive grasping and fine manipulation.

  • Work outdoors in various conditions for long hours.

Training Period Details

During the 3-6-month contract training:

  • Cross-train in Smart Vehicle department, installing/servicing camera systems and GPS units.

  • Travel 90% within the U.S. (some Canada) for customer site installations/service calls.

  • Earn MECP certification (company-sponsored).

  • Receive full coverage for travel expenses (flights, car rentals, hotels), $35/day food stipend, and $10/day incidental stipend.

Compensation (Training Period)

  • Training Week: $1,200 + $250 food stipend.

  • Installations: $58/installation (30-80 min average).
