The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is seeking to hire a full-time Jr. Case Manager to work in our Tribal Court.

Job Description:

The role of the Jr. Case Manager is similar to that of the Senior Case Manager in that they shall oversee a file (civil, criminal, juvenile, widow status, traffic or animal ordinance) from beginning to end. They will ensure that the file is maintained in working order, there is compliance by parties, departments or assigned agencies with any court mandates and referrals. If any fines are due, follow through with payment or probationary terms are being met. The Case Manager shall also ensure a file is ready for hearing, making sure that all the required documentation (witness list, evidence, reports, evaluations) are contained in the file.

The Junior Case Manager shall also assist in recording case information into the new Tribal Court database system. This duty is temporary since once the database is brought up to date with all prior court history, the updating and maintaining of the database shall not be a requirement for this position.

Skills & Qualifications:

· Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat

· Ability to take initiative in carrying out routine assignments and procedures;

· Strong verbal and communication skills.

· Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

· Working knowledge of legal terminology and principles.

· Must be a Notary Public insured and bonded by the State of Florida.

· Must have a background working in the legal field.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Review and oversee assigned cases to ensure compliance by parties, reports and evaluations are filed on a timely basis, prepares any related support documentation that is not performed by the Clerk of Courts.

· Communicates with Legal Advisor regarding any legal matters and/or questions that may arise in the case.

· Issues memorandum to reporting agencies requiring deadlines as to monthly reporting.

· Communicate with the presiding judges regarding the ongoing cases, pleadings or other documentation filed, providing status and notification when a case is ready for hearing/trial.

· Issues citation letters and prepares orders of attachments in traffic and animal ordinance cases.

· Assists in the data entry of prior cases into new database.

· May be required to assist other staff in items outside the scope of their work, if needed.

Job Site: 20 Miles West of Krome Avenue on SW 8th Street, on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation
