JOB OVERVIEW

The Quality Apprentice will work closely with experienced technicians, inspectors, and engineers to learn and develop skills related to the repair of aircraft engines. This hands-on apprenticeship provides the opportunity to gain practical experience, technical knowledge, and professional skills while adhering to safety standards and company procedures. As a Junior Quality Inspector, you will work on improvement projects for the Quality and Inspection teams and assist with various tasks, including parts inspection, tool review and management, kitting, and routine maintenance, while working toward an opportunity to become a Level 1 Inspector or Quality Coordinator within FTAI Aviation. The role requires a level of independence and proactivity while working on specific projects, as well as a strong willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced and safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general inspection, under the guidance of experience Inspectors, of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support the documentation and management of quality records, including non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and inspection reports.
  • Perform scripted repair procedure to repair and functionally test parts or tools.
  • Assist Repair technicians/Engineers/Technical Services/Inspectors as required.
  • Audit repair documentation for accuracy and completion.
  • Maintain constant adherence to inventory control practices and procedures.
  • Interpret OEM manuals and routers instructions.
  • Work closely with experienced technicians, engineers, inspectors, and supervisors to develop technical expertise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment daily, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored at the end of shifts.
  • Help with the issuance and filing of documentation of work performed inside of ERP system (Quantum).
  • Ad-hoc tasks required for the proper functioning of the shop.
  • Lead and complete special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated and reliable.
  • Proactivity in finding and addressing Quality and Inspection needs.
  • Proficiency working with hand tools.
  • Ability to perform within company quality standard
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
  • Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of parts and concepts.
  • Ability to read and understand routers and OEM manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft engines and mechanical systems.

Job Demands:

Work is performed in a Shop environment and requires the ability to perform extensive standing, driving, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to manipulate up to 100lbs. with assistance. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb to reach materials, and work in a noisy environment.
