POSITION SUMMARY
The Early Learning Support Specialist is responsible for supporting early learning projects related to professional development, child outcomes, early childhood workforce initiatives and the administration of assessment tool(s). This position will assist child care directors and teachers in achieving program requirements and accessing resources offered through the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (ELCHC). This position will collaborate with various partners and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of early learning grants, quality strategies and State and Federal programs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct program assessments using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) according to Division of Early Learning requirements and maintain reliability on all tools.
- Write CLASS Observation reports with accuracy, and limited errors or need for revisions.
- Support local professional development initiatives for early childhood educators through Certified Coaching and/or Technical Assistance.
- Support local initiatives for early childhood educators through administering tool(s) on classroom learning environment(s), collecting data related to child outcomes, and administering assessments on child development, as needed.
- Support directors and early childhood teachers in navigating various programs offered through the ELCHC.
- Adhere to the Division of Early Learning’s grant guidance, comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, timelines, resources, and report on deliverables.
- Collaborate across teams and inter-departmentally to define initiatives, project objectives and scope, and work on various projects simultaneously.
- Assist in the development and facilitation of training and workshops for early childhood educators regarding various aspects of early childhood development as well as programmatic informational sessions, as assigned.
- Field and/or site visits to childcare programs are required, across regions.
- Perform other duties that may be necessary to maintain the success of the organization, as determined by leadership.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in early childhood education, social services or other closely related field

- Proven ability to connect with a diverse population
- Knowledge of Best-In-Class Customer Service techniques
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an early learning environment
- Experience and/or knowledge of the Child Development Associate Certification and the CLASS tool, preferred
- Experience in providing training and/or coaching various groups of individuals, preferred
- Intermediate organizational, analytical, project management, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate skills using technology and software including but not limited to database systems and Microsoft Office products
- Successful completion of the level 2 background screening standards as set forth in s. 435.04, F.S.
- Valid Florida’s driver license and the ability to drive a passenger vehicle
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish, preferred
Physical Activity/ Work Environment
- Work Environment: This job operates in a general office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers/fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently interacts with staff, vendors, and the general public in person and via telephone and email.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, at a desk, utilizing a computer and reviewing online and paper documents. The employee will also be required to lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
