A critical care Respiratory Therapist position is open for a contract opportunity in West Palm Beach, FL, specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) support. This role requires expertise in managing high-acuity respiratory conditions in neonates, with flexibility to float to Adult Level III NICU when needed. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory care and therapeutic interventions to neonates, ensuring optimal ventilation and oxygenation.
- Competently operate high-frequency ventilators, including the JET and Oscillator.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Float to Adult Level III NICU as assigned, maintaining high standards of care.
- Monitor respiratory equipment and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Utilize electronic medical records (Meditech) for accurate documentation and communication.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with current licensure.
- Minimum of 2 years acute care hospital experience, including NICU respiratory care.
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is mandatory.
- Experience with stroke education and previous Meditech EMR use is preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Work Environment:
- This unit operates with 12 beds and a close-knit staff of 5-8 respiratory therapists.
- Patient ratios typically range from 1:1 to 2:1, ensuring focus on individualized care.
- Royal blue scrubs are the standard attire for Respiratory Therapists.
