Summary/Objective
Interprets pacemaker and internal defibrillation rhythm strips. This person will also apply monitors to patients, re-program devices and provide education to patients.
Essential Functions
Interprets pacemaker and internal defibrillator rhythm strips
Applies 24-hour Holter Monitor, Event Monitor, & MCOT monitors to patients
Re-programs pacemakers and internal defibrillators
Provides patient education
Assists as necessary in proper functioning of Pacemaker Clinic
Supervisory Responsibility
None
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This person in this position needs to occasionally move about the inside of the office retrieve patients from waiting room, access file cabinets, and office equipment.
Constantly operates a computer and holter devices
This person frequently communicates with patients that inquire about their devices and test. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to see the computer monitors, interpret pacing rhythms, and recognize abnormalities.
Frequently moves file boxes weighing up to 50 pounds between file room and Pacemaker Clinic
Requirements:
Required Education and Experience
Licensed Practical Nurse
Two years experience as an office nurse, preferably in Cardiology or related area
CPR certification/Hospital credentialing
Preferred Education and Experience
Previous experience with dysrhythmia and pacemaker management and follow-up
