Job Description
A Norwalt Assembly Technician will be responsible for the building, wiring, and debugging of various types of automated machinery. Norwalt is an Engineer to Order (ETO) company and therefore provides unique and custom machinery to meet the needs of its customers. Therefore, the machines that employees are exposed to are always unique and evolve with technological advancements. Machines are assembled at Norwalt starting with a bare frame then built and tested prior to shipping to Norwalt customer facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble subassemblies on various types of automation machinery
- Alter parts for appropriate function and fit using various methods
- Machine shop equipment is available for all employees
- Equipment includes manual milling machines and lathes, drill presses, band saws, abrasive saws, handheld sanders, belt sanders, handheld abrasive discs, etc.
- Alter parts based on poor function determined at the time of assembly and communicate with engineering
- Run and manage cables and airlines so that schematics are followed and machine is aesthetically up to standards
- Work with engineers on ways to improve designs and functionality of machinery
- Troubleshoot machinery after all components are assembled and wired
- Assist in scheduling and tasks for assembly technicians and electromechanical technicians
Qualification Requirements
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with automated machinery
- Robotics troubleshooting (SCARA and 6-Axis)
- Experience in using basic hand and power tools
- Machine shop experience (manual mill and lathes)
- Ability to read blueprints, pneumatic schematics, and electrical schematics
- Ability to read blueprints helpful but not required
- Ability to navigate a computer (CAD experience helpful but not required)
- Norwalt offers training to specific Norwalt applications to be used on the computers
- Valid Driver's License

Physical Demands and Abilities
• Ability to carry up to 45lbs and lift from below the waist to above the head
• Daily duties and responsibilities may include, bending, reaching, lifting objects (below the waist and above the head), walking and/or standing for extended periods of time (and possibly for extended distances), climbing stairs, stooping, and kneeling
