Duties and Responsibilities
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Collect fluid or tissue samples using appropriate collection procedures.
- Take blood tests and submit them to the Laboratory Company.
- Provide service in accordance with reimbursement, ethical and legal guidelines.
- Inform the physician and other related personnel of changes in the patient’s needs and or physical changes.
- Draw blood from veins by vacuum tube, syringe or butterfly venipuncture methods.
- Draw blood from capillaries by dermal puncture.
- Dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards and policies.
- Enter patient and specimen information into EHR.
- Write daily notes according to the Federal and State guidelines.
- Communicate with the MD regarding patient’s status, obtaining additional orders if necessary.
- Ensure that all HIPAA/OSHA standards are in compliance.
- Assume responsibilities for self-development by continually striving to improve his/her knowledge through educational programs, attendance to workshops and conferences to keep all certifications up to date.
- Observe confidentiality and safeguards on all patient-related information and Medical Facility operational data.
- Complete order status
- Perform medical Assistant duties such as, but not limited to:
- Taking vital signs, blood pressure, temperature and respiration on each visit. Documenting those vital signs in the medical
records. - Verify demographics and medical insurance.
- Apply vaccines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a phlebotomy certification from an accredited organization.
- Must hold a Medical Assistant certification from an accredited organization.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting.
- MS Office programs experience.
