Derrevere Stevens Black & Cozad, a national law firm with offices in Florida, is currently seeking a highly skilled Paralegal to support our Construction Defect Practice Group. This position offers flexibility of remote work and a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
Our nationally recognized firm is dedicated to excellence in subrogation litigation, and we are looking for a detail-oriented, experienced paralegal to assist in managing a high-volume caseload alongside our attorneys.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We seek a seasoned paralegal with a strong background in construction and/or insurance defense who thrives in a high-profile, fast-paced legal practice. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional organizational, analytical, and case management skills, with the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency. This individual will play a critical role in case preparation, investigation, and litigation support.
Candidates should possess a minimum of five years' experience in insurance defense and case management. Prior experience working in construction defense is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Assist attorneys with managing a high-volume docket of cases from inception through resolution.
- Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct legal research on applicable statutes, case law, and regulatory issues relevant to insurance defense.
- Drafting & Documentation: Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- Investigation & Evidence Gathering: Gather supporting documentation, review investigative reports, and coordinate with experts to strengthen liability arguments.
- Client & Third-Party Communication: Liaise with clients, insureds, adjusters, experts, and opposing counsel to facilitate case progression.
- Litigation Support: Assist in trial preparation, including assembling exhibits, deposition summaries, and organizing case files.
- Calendar & Deadline Management: Maintain court deadlines, filing schedules, and case milestones to ensure timely compliance with procedural requirements.
- Technology & Database Management: Utilize case management software and litigation technology to track case progress and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience, preferably in construction and/or insurance defense.
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures in Florida.
- Experience drafting legal documents and managing discovery processes.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in litigation software and document management tools.
