Summary:
Leads activities and resources for Quality, performance improvement, patient safety and compliance with Accreditation & Licensure to ensure alignment with the mission, and pillars of the Memorial Healthcare System. Responsible for overseeing all quality improvement and driving quality results for the area of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a formal process for resolving customer complaints and monitors customer satisfaction.Leads, supports and performs medication quality and safety analysis, investigations, and initiatives that guide the design, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of safe medication systems. Participates in medication safety and quality committees instrumental to continuous quality improvement.Manages the development, deployment, and completion of the accreditation and quality related training and data for pharmacists, technician and supporting staff.Responsible for reviewing, implementing, evaluating, leading and maintaining documentation for the Pharmacy Quality Management Program and Continues Quality Improvement programs which promote the objectives, systematic measurements of quality process improvements based on findings and reporting quality measures.Stays up to date with accreditation standards for applicable accreditation and regulatory bodies and makes the necessary system changes to ensure compliance. Acts as a primary resource for all applicable accreditations and accreditation compliance. Ensures the pharmacy's continuous accreditation compliance through assessments and gap analysis, action plans, resolutions and timeline development for standard adherence. Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure implementation of corrective action plans.Participates in the revision of policies, procedures, protocols and forms to support a systems-oriented view of medication safety improvement, staff education and pharmacy accreditation. Employs quality improvement principles, safety methodologies and effective tactics (i.e. RCA, FMEA) to implement strategies and reduce medication errors.Performs cross functional duties including those of pharmacist, clinical specialist or other clinical coordinator duties if needed by the department and serves as a preceptor and resource to pharmacy residents, pharmacists, pharmacy interns and students.Interfaces with clinical staff, information technology, and risk management to develop and lead implementation of medication error prevention strategies. Uses internal and external evidence related to medication safety to identify best practices, viable improvement strategies and practical tools for implementation of harm-mitigation and/or workflow changes.
