The Development Officer will focus on donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, working closely with senior development leadership to grow our donor pipeline and support major gift efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Identification & Cultivation

  • Qualify and help build a pipeline of donors at various giving levels.
  • Support donor cultivation through outreach, meetings, calls, and personalized communication.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM system.

Fundraising & Gift Support

  • Assist with individual giving and major gift efforts, including preparing donor briefs and solicitation materials.
  • Participate in donor meetings and help follow up on commitments and next steps.
  • Support the solicitation of gifts and sponsorships under the guidance of senior development staff.
  • Help ensure donors receive timely acknowledgment and meaningful stewardship.

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Support relationship-building with corporate partners, community organizations, and foundations.
  • Assist with partnership outreach and coordination as directed.
  • Represent the organization professionally in donor and partner interactions.

Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Track donor activity, outreach, and fundraising progress.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and updates for development leadership.
  • Support fundraising campaigns and initiatives as assigned.

What Success Looks Like

  • A growing, well-documented donor pipeline.
  • Positive, professional donor relationships that lead to increased engagement and giving.
  • Timely follow-up and strong stewardship practices.
  • Reliable support for major gift and partnership efforts.

Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, sales, or relationship-based roles.
  • Strong interest in donor engagement and mission-driven work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Confidence engaging with donors and prospective supporters.
  • Willingness to learn fundraising best practices and grow professionally.
  • Experience with CRM systems or donor databases preferred but not required.
