About Us:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Database Administrator to join our growing team. You will work closely with application development teams and IT staff to ensure our databases operate smoothly and securely in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in database management, troubleshooting, and optimization, with the ability to handle complex technical issues effectively.

Responsibilities:
As a Database Administrator, you will play a key role in monitoring and fine-tuning several MariaDB database instances to ensure they perform optimally. You will manage storage planning, capacity forecasting, and resource allocation to support business growth and changing needs. Ensuring the security of our databases is a critical part of your responsibilities; this includes reporting security incidents promptly and implementing measures to prevent vulnerabilities. You will also oversee server configuration, migration efforts, and software upgrades, testing new releases thoroughly before deployment. Developing and maintaining comprehensive backup and recovery procedures will be essential to minimize downtime and data loss during failures. Your role will involve root cause analysis of database issues, troubleshooting, and providing effective solutions quickly. Additionally, you will create custom monitoring and maintenance plans, automate routine tasks, and document all procedures for compliance and audit purposes. Collaboration with application developers, network engineers, and security teams will ensure seamless integration and robust security practices across our database systems.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a similar field. A minimum of 7 years of practical experience managing MySQL or MariaDB databases in a commercial environment or within a Linux-based infrastructure is required. Experience working with DBA case tools and third-party management solutions is essential. A solid understanding of database standards, query optimization, and end-user application integrations is critical. Experience working within PCI-compliant environments is highly valued, given the focus on security and data integrity.

Skills & Attributes:
The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record as a database administrator, showcasing strong problem-solving and analytical skills. You should be capable of assessing complex situations and providing clear, actionable recommendations. Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently are vital; you should be a self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team. Leadership skills to guide development teams, ensure best practices, and support continuous improvement are highly desirable. In addition, you should be capable of producing high-quality, reliable code suitable for a 24/7 operational environment. Attention to detail and a dedication to maintaining security, compliance, and quality standards are essential for success in this role.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with advanced DBA tools, third-party management solutions, and database tuning techniques is preferred. Knowledge of security practices and audit management specific to PCI environments will further strengthen your suitability for this role.
