Job Title: Medical Assistant (Per Diem)

Position Type: Per Diem
Pat Rate: $19/hr (Paid Weekly)
Allmed Benefits: Vision, Health, Dental Insurance and 401(k)
Work Schedule:

Per diem coverage for staffing shortages; schedule varies based on operational needs

Must be available for 8-hour shifts during hours of operation:

Monday/Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Tuesday/Thursday/Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Required two-week training period (40 hours/week) with a fixed schedule

Flexible availability required

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. This per diem role supports staffing needs within the health center and requires flexibility to work varying schedules. The position has the potential to transition to full-time for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, recording vital signs, and assisting with care coordination

  • Assist providers during patient examinations and treatments

  • Administer medications and injections as directed

  • Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and lab draws

  • Prepare examination rooms and clean/sterilize instruments according to protocol

  • Review pre-printed instructions and care information with patients

  • Manage patient flow to ensure timely and efficient visits

  • Support front office operations, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and medical record scanning

  • Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

  • Current CPR certification

  • Strong clinical skills, including vitals, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to perform both front and back office duties

Preferred:

  • Phlebotomy certification

Education & Certifications

  • Accredited Medical Assistant Program (required)

  • CPR Certification (required)

  • Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
