Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Attorney to join our team on a contract basis in Plantation, Florida. In this role, you will provide legal services to eligible clients, focusing on areas such as housing, health benefits, consumer rights, elder abuse, and financial exploitation. This contract position is expected to last approximately 3-6 months.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct client interviews to understand legal issues and gather relevant information.
• Provide legal counsel on matters involving housing, public benefits, elder law, consumer rights, and related areas.
• Research and analyze statutes, case law, and legal precedents to support case strategies.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, orders, and pleadings.
• Develop case strategies and arguments to effectively represent clients in court or negotiations.
• Prepare clients for court appearances and provide guidance on legal processes.
• Review and analyze client-provided documents and evidence for case preparation.
• Perform discovery tasks, including depositions, and examine public, legal, and medical records.
• Participate in community outreach and educational events, both in-person and virtually, to provide legal education and awareness.
• Maintain accurate records, case notes, and time tracking in the case management system.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in the Florida Bar, in good standing.
• A minimum of 1 year of legal experience demonstrating attention to detail.
• Proficiency in civil litigation, including legal research, drafting motions, and managing cases.
• Strong client relations skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
• Experience using virtual communication platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
