Point Blank Enterprises, Inc., a trusted leader in body armor, ballistic protection, and advanced defense systems, is expanding its Advanced Technology Group to build state-of-the-art vehicles and integrated mobile platforms for U.S. law enforcement, military, and federal government customers. We are seeking a highly skilled Vehicle Upfit & Build Technician with installation and fabrication experience to support specialized vehicle assembly, modification, and upfitting projects in a secure, compliance-driven environment.
Position Summary
The Vehicle Upfit & Build Technician is responsible for the fabrication and physical installation, assembly, and quality assurance of law enforcement and defense vehicle platforms. The technician will work on a range of specialized vehicles and mobile systems built to precise engineering standards and federal contract specifications. Woodworking skills are required for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Install, fabricate, and align components on various vehicle types, including electrical systems, enclosures, and interior/exterior upfit modules.
· Conduct vehicle disassembly, custom fabrication, equipment mounting, and reassembly with strict adherence to specifications.
· Work with diverse materials, including wood, composites, aluminum, and Formica, for structural paneling and integration.
· Read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics to perform build assignments accurately.
· Apply and enforce safety and quality assurance standards during all build procedures.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace following all OSHA and EPA safety requirements.
· Perform other duties as assigned, including limited travel to customer or program sites when required.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in automotive, defense, or marine vehicle upfitting, mechanical fabrication, or similar.
· Solid understanding of 12V/24V vehicle electrical systems, power distribution, fusing, and wiring practices.
· Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
· Ability to read and execute mechanical and fabrication instructions accurately.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in both mechanical and electrical domains.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently or as part of a small team while maintaining productivity and precision.
· Must be punctual, reliable, and attentive to detail.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
· Physically able to lift and maneuver materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
· Must be a U.S. Citizen to meet government contract requirements.
· Ability to successfully complete a background check and obtain clearance when required under federal contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
· Extensive experience with woodworking and custom fabrication.
· Prior experience with government or law enforcement vehicle build programs.
· Automotive, off-road, or marine upfitting experience.
· Experience with prototype vehicle builds, armored vehicles, or mobile surveillance platforms.
· OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training highly preferred.
Education and Employment Type
· High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
· Full-time position with potential for overtime based on project deadlines.
