Job DescriptionSalary: 50,000 - 60,000
The Estimator is responsible for generating accurate, detailed cost estimates and
supporting financial visibility throughout each projects lifecycle from preconstruction
budgeting to final cost analysis.
This individual ensures that all Ivey Design Build proposals, bids, and change orders are precise,
competitive, and profitable.
Estimating supports both the Operations Department and Project Management
Department by establishing financial clarity before work begins and maintaining control as
projects progress.
Preconstruction Phase
Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimates based on design drawings and
specifications.
Review drawings for missing information or potential cost impacts.
Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor bids.
Prepare scope sheets per division (CSI format) for comparison and accuracy.
Work with Design Coordinator to review material selections for cost alignment.
Present preliminary budgets to Operations and Project Management for review.
Create Bid Summary Reports identifying best-value subs/vendors.
Construction Phase
Support Project Manager with prices or change orders, value engineering, and scope
adjustments.
Maintain a Project Cost Log comparing estimated vs. actual cost data.
Coordinate with Accounting to track committed costs, pending approvals, and purchase
orders.
Review vendor/subcontractor invoices for scope accuracy when requested.
Update the Master Cost Library based on actual project outcomes.
Post-Project Phase
Conduct project debrief reviews with Operations and Accounting to compare estimate
vs. final costs.
Document lessons learned, pricing variations, and vendor performance.
Update pricing database for future estimates and budgeting accuracy.
