Job Summary

The Kitchen Prep & Baker Associate is responsible for preparing, assembling, baking, and packaging food and beverage items in accordance with standardized recipes and production procedures. This role supports both bakery and deli operations while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and allergen-safe practices within a health-focused environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares ingredients by washing, cutting, measuring, and portioning according to recipes and prep lists.
  • Performs daily baking tasks including mixing, scaling, portioning, and finishing baked goods.
  • Preps produce, sauces, spreads, and deli ingredients for daily service.
  • Cooks, batches, and assembles food items under direction of leadership and in compliance with recipes.
  • Follows strict allergen-safe procedures, including accurate labeling and avoidance of cross-contamination.
  • Labels, dates, and stores all products properly using FIFO (first-in, first-out) standards.
  • Packages, labels, and rotates products for delivery, service line use, or retail display.
  • Maintains clean, sanitized, and organized prep, baking, and production areas throughout the shift.
  • Supports dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and other general kitchen duties as needed.
  • Reports low stock levels, ingredient shortages, or equipment concerns promptly to leadership.
  • Adheres to all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements, including temp logs and handwashing.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to meet daily production and service goals.
  • Follows all company policies, dress code expectations, and safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
  • Basic baking knowledge or experience (professional or advanced home experience welcomed).
  • Solid kitchen fundamentals and an understanding of prep processes.
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and safely in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented, reliable attitude.
  • Ability to work independently after training.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Kitchen prep experience required.
  • Baking experience strongly preferred (professional or well-developed home experience accepted).
  • Experience with vegan and/or gluten-free production is a plus but not required; training provided.

Shift Times

  • Shifts may include:
  • 9:00AM – 5:00 PM
  • 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Shift times may vary based on season.
  • Weekend availability is required for the position.
